The nationwide pass rate is approximately 60–65%. This means that around 35–40% of participants fail. With professional preparation, the pass rate is significantly higher, at over 90%. Good preparation is therefore the best investment.

If you don't pass the MPU, you receive a negative assessment. You can retake the MPU as many times as needed, but you must pay the full assessment fees each time. Do I have to live completely abstinent for the MPU?

That depends on the reason for the assessment. For alcohol MPUs with a BAC of 1.6 per mille or higher, complete alcohol abstinence is generally required. For lower values, controlled drinking may be sufficient. For drug MPUs, complete drug abstinence for at least 12 months must generally be demonstrated. We advise you on which program is appropriate for your situation.

Can I choose the assessment center myself?

Yes, you have the right to freely choose the assessment center. The prerequisite is that it is accredited by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).
