MPU due to aggression
Aggressive behavior in road traffic can lead to an MPU. Learn how to develop impulse control and successfully prepare for an MPU due to aggression.
When is an aggression MPU ordered?
An MPU due to aggression is ordered when aggressive behavior in road traffic has led to serious incidents. These include coercion, dangerous bodily harm, threats, or property damage in connection with road traffic.
Typical triggers are reckless tailgating, intentionally braking in front of other road users, physical altercations at traffic lights or rest stops, and verbal threats with a coercive character.
Repeated traffic offenses that indicate a fundamental aggression problem can also lead to an MPU order. The driver's license authority examines not just individual incidents but the overall picture.
Impulse control and conflict management
The core of the aggression MPU is the question of whether you can control your impulses and have effective conflict resolution strategies. The assessor wants to see that you understand why you reacted aggressively and what changes you have made.
In our preparation, we work specifically on your impulse control. We analyze the triggers of your aggressive behavior, identify patterns, and develop alternative action strategies together for stressful situations in road traffic.
Proven methods include relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring (recognizing and changing negative thought patterns), mindfulness exercises, and deliberately practicing new behaviors in provocative situations.
The psychological interview in the aggression MPU
The psychological interview focuses on your aggression biography: When did you first exhibit aggressive behavior? What were the triggers? How do you deal with anger and frustration today? What concrete changes have you made in your behavior?
The assessor pays particular attention to whether you take responsibility for your behavior or blame others. Statements like "The other person provoked me" do not demonstrate insight. Instead, you should show that you take responsibility for your reactions.
It is particularly convincing if you can describe concrete situations in which you would have reacted aggressively in the past but now act differently. This behavioral change must be authentic and comprehensible.
Traffic therapy and professional support
Traffic therapy with a recognized traffic psychologist can be an important part of your preparation. It shows the assessor that you have sought professional help and are willing to work on yourself.
In traffic therapy, you learn to understand your aggression patterns and change them sustainably. The therapist works with proven methods of cognitive behavioral therapy and can issue you a certificate of participation.
Attending an anti-aggression training course can also improve your chances. Such courses are offered by various providers and teach practical techniques for impulse control and de-escalation.
